What I will push for
My promise
Council has a Mayor, a Deputy Mayor and five councillors. No councillor can promise you a tax rate, a road, or a development decision on their own, and you should be careful with anyone who tells you otherwise.
What I can promise is how I will use my vote, what questions I will ask before I cast it, and that you will be able to find out why I voted the way I did.
Responsible spending and taxes
Every dollar the Town spends comes from a household in LaSalle. I ran a business where I had to justify every expense to myself before I signed for it. My focus will be on careful budgeting and finding efficiencies so we can keep taxes as stable as possible for residents.
What I hear
- Taxes go up every year and it is not clear what residents get for the increase.
- Large projects are approved before people understand what they will cost to run.
What I will do
- I will bring a business-minded approach to council, questioning every expense and advocating for the smartest use of your tax dollars.
- I will ask what a project costs to operate every year, not only what it costs to build.
- I will push for spending decisions to be explained in plain language before they are voted on.
- I will not support a budget I cannot explain to a resident on their doorstep.
Better roads, infrastructure and maintenance
Roads, drainage and basic maintenance are not glamorous, and they are exactly what people notice every single day. Getting the fundamentals right is the job.
What I hear
- Road and sidewalk conditions in older parts of town.
- Drainage and flooding after heavy rain.
- Maintenance that is deferred until a repair becomes a replacement.
What I will do
- I will push for a maintenance schedule residents can actually see.
- I will ask why deferred work was deferred, and what deferring it will cost later.
- I will vote for fixing what we already have before we take on something new.
Practical decisions that put LaSalle residents first
Development, traffic, policing, parks — these decisions should be judged on one test. Does this make life better for the people who already live here?
What I hear
- Development that arrives faster than the roads and services around it.
- Traffic and speed on residential streets.
- Keeping parks and public spaces attractive and safe.
What I will do
- I will ask what a proposal does to traffic, drainage and services on the streets around it.
- I will push for residents to be heard before a decision is made, not after.
- I will vote for the option that serves the people already living here.
