When you can vote

Online voting opens October 16, 2026 at 10:00 AM and closes October 26, 2026 at 8:00 PM. Election day is Monday, October 26, 2026.

How voting works this election

LaSalle is running an online-only election in 2026. There are no paper ballots.

You can vote from a phone, a tablet or a computer, at any hour during the voting period, using the PIN in the letter the Town mails you.

That does not mean you are on your own. If you have no device, no internet, or you would simply rather not do it alone, you can walk into a Voter Help Centre and an Election Official will help you vote online there.

Who can vote

You are eligible to vote in LaSalle if you are all of the following:

• a Canadian citizen
• at least 18 years old
• a resident of the Town of LaSalle, or a non-resident who — or whose spouse — owns or rents property in the Town of LaSalle
• not prohibited from voting under the Municipal Elections Act or otherwise by law

Step by step

1. 1

   Make sure you are on the voters’ list

   From Tuesday, September 1, 2026 until voting closes at 8:00 PM on Monday, October 26, you can add yourself to the voters’ list or correct your information — online, or in person at the LaSalle Civic Centre, 5950 Malden Road. If you have moved, changed your name, or have never voted here before, do this first. The separate window run by Elections Ontario closed on August 12, so the Town is where this happens now.

   Watch for your Voter Information Letter

   The Town mails a Voter Information Letter to everyone on the voters’ list, beginning in early October. It carries the PIN you use to log in and vote, so keep it somewhere safe. If it has not arrived by October 16, or you lose it, a Voter Help Centre will give you another one.

3. 3

   Vote online between October 16 and October 26

   Voting opens Friday, October 16 at 10:00 AM and closes Monday, October 26 at 8:00 PM. You can vote at any hour in between, from a computer, a phone or a tablet, anywhere you have internet. It is one continuous window rather than two separate chances, so there is no need to leave it until the final evening.

4. 4

   Check your vote if you want to

   The Town says a Verify App LaSalle will be available on Google Play and the App Store. After you vote you are given a QR code; scanning it in the app shows you that your ballot was stored the way you cast it. Nobody has to use it, and your vote counts either way — it is there for anyone who would like to see for themselves.
